ResearchCrossroads

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you and why are you doing this?

Our motivation in creating this website is to provide more transparent access to who is performing research in different disciplines. By creating a social network of researchers, we hope to reduce redundant research, speeding discovery. The Freedom of Information Act guarantees the public can access this information, but it is nearly impossible to determine who is receiving money for what research. ResearchCrossroads makes this public information usable and understandable while recognizing the people conducting this research.

I see my profile, how do I log in and update my information?

If you see your researcher profile but need your credentials, first attempt to retrieve your information here. If you can not retrieve your password, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will reset your login and password promptly.

Why do I have more than one profile on ResearchCrossroads?

Since there is no common identifier for a researcher, the best we can do to match grants to an individual is by matching algorithms. We are promoting the use of RCID (ResearchCrossroads ID) as a mechanism to uniquely identify researchers and improve matching capabilities. If you find you have more than one profile on the site, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   and we will combine the two profiles. We then maintain a mapping that will ensure that we assign grants to you based on either of the names in the two profiles we combined.

Can I add grants from other funding agencies to my profile?

Yes, we encourage you to enter grants from other funding agencies to your profile. All manually entered grants are reviewed and may be removed if we can not authenticate the accuracy. Add grants to your profile by selecting the Manage Grants option from the User Menu when you are logged into the website.

I was the co-PI or participated on a grant how can I add this to my profile?

Many organizations do not track co-investigators in a consistent manner. ResearchCrossroads wants you to get credit for your research. To add a grant on which you participated to your profile, find the grant and select the grant title to view the details of the grant. At the bottom of the page is a link to add the grant to your profile. You must be logged in to ResearchCrossroads to add grants or associate grants with your profile.

How do I update my publications, biography and clinical trials?

You can update these areas of your profile by selecting the Update Profile option from the User Menu when you are logged into the system.
